Scott Nelson

Scott began his career in the wine and spirits industry in 2006. After working in sales and management for Young's Market Company and finally RNDC of California for over 15 years, Scott and his family moved to Oregon and joined his father at Nelson Beverage Group in 2021. Scott holds an active OLCC service permit and is WSET Level 2 certified.

Jason O’Hagan
Jason is a 25-year veteran of the Restaurant/Bar/Live Music industry. After moving his family from San Luis Obispo to Portland he worked for Maletis Beverage for 7 years, honing his sales skills and earning his Cicerone certification working in the beer industry. Jason proudly joined Nelson Beverage Group in the summer of 2024 and holds an active OLCC service permit.

After 13 years working at the Dollar General distribution center in southern Oklahoma, Melissa relocated to Portland, Oregon, to begin work at the busiest liquor store in the state. During her 6 years at the store, she was promoted to assistant manager and eventually, general manager. Melissa demonstrated her understanding of the ever-changing trends within the industry, effectively communicating these insights to customers. She managed inventories while also keeping herself informed about new products and systems in the state. Melissa joined Nelson Beverage Group in the spring of 2025 and holds an active OLCC service permit.

Thomas Burgess

Tom has over 25 years of beverage sales and marketing experience in Oregon. He is a trusted liquor representative involved in all aspects of the 3-tier system in Oregon. He spent a few years managing the state of Oregon’s largest liquor store by volume and approximately 14 years working as a territory manager for both RNCD and Southern Glazer. Tom holds an active OLCC service permit and is a Certified Specialist of Spirits.

Michael Lane
Mike has over 20 years of experience in the spirits industry including various management roles in several Portland area liquor stores. He has a deep understanding of customer preferences and industry trends and is committed to enhancing the appreciation of fine spirits for both enthusiasts and novices alike. He is extremely passionate about the world of whiskey, having completed over 2 years of training courses. Mike joined Nelson Beverage Group in the summer of 2024 and holds an active OLCC service permit.

Jay Nelson
Jay is a veteran of the beverage alcohol industry having entered the business right out of college. His career has spanned over 5 decades exclusively in Oregon. After retiring several years ago, he needed some activity, so he started Nelson Beverage Group with his son, Scott, in 2021. Jay is a Certified Specialist of Spirits.
